The one place their artistic dresses can be found is on the Hollywood red carpet. Ralph Lauren said, I don't design clothes. I design dreams. They are the world’s most beloved fashion designers and their dresses are most sought after by women.
Italian fashion designers have long made their mark in the world of fashion. Their creations are some of the most sought after on the entire planet. It was virtually impossible to narrow a list down to a mere ten. These are a few of the most influential fashion designers – not just in Italy – but the entire world.
10 . Nicola Trussardi |
He took over the glove-making business that had been in his family since 1910 and turned it into a major company. Soon after taking over, he made sure that the product line included luxury accessories instead of just gloves. Just a few years after, he introduced leather jackets to the Trussardi line, which paved the way for a ready-to-wear line. Around the 1980s, Trussardi also sold menswear, womenswear, children’s wear, and sportswear.

. Roberto Cavalli
|
When he showed his first collection at the
Salon for Prêt-à-Porter in Paris, he was only 30 years old at the time. He
patented and discovered a revolutionary printing procedure on leather. This
allowed him to create patchworks of different materials. He opened his
Saint-Tropez boutique in 1972.
8 . Donatella Versace |
The
younger sister of Gianni Versace. She currently owns 20% of all the stock
assets of Versace. She is well known for being the first designer to use
noteworthy celebrities to showcase her clothing on the runway. She also
pioneered celebrities wearing fashion in advertisements. While she oversees the
production of a dozen collections each year, she is also quite famous for her
extravagant parties and celebrity friends.
Believe
it or not, Laura Biagiotti first wanted to become an archeologist. But because
she started helping her family in the dressmaking business, she quickly became
enthralled with fashion. In 1972, she had her first fashion show. Laura
Biagiotti’s style is considered high fashion.
6 . Fendi |
5 . Gianni Versace |
4 . Valentino |
Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani – or Valentino for short – was interested in fashion at an early age. Though he apprenticed in Paris under Jacques Fath, Balenciaga, Guy Laroche, and Jean Desses, he made the decision to return to Italy. In 1962, he made his international debut in Florence. The show was a massive success and immediately he found that his clothes were in high demand. He was considered the undisputed king of Italian fashion designers around the mid-1960s.
3 . Prada |
Prada originally started in Milan as a leather goods shop, founded by Mario Prada. After his passing in the 1950′s, his daughter-in-law took over the company until Mario’s actual daughter took over in 1970. Prada’s popularity only rose and became a symbol for affluent working women in positions of power. Prada quickly became a premium status symbol.
2 . Dolce & Gabbana |
Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce came together to form Dolce & Gabbana. Though they had originally begun working together as a romantic item, they ended their romantic relationship in 2005. Unlike many other couples, they were able to work together as business partners. D&G is currently one of the most financially successful Italian fashion houses.
