Im
Hyung Taek PD apologized regarding accusations that Running Man plagiarized a
Japanese variety show.
Im
Hyung Taek PD of SBS′
Running Man stated to Newsen on December 14, "I′m sorry that
plagiarism suspicions came about at all. It′s 100& the PD′s responsibility for
not checking these things during the meeting."
He
continued, "A lot of ideas came out during the meeting, but because I don′t monitor all the
variety programs from other countries, it didn′t even cross my mind
that there was something similar. Nevertheless, it was my responsibility to
check."
Im
Hyung Taek PD said, "It appears the production team has an added assignment. I
promise to prevent something like this from recurring in the future. If there
are people who are displeased, I′m sorry. We will
continue to show a better side."
On
the December 6 broadcast of Running Man, the members were tasked with finding
Gary, who had gone missing, by playing various games with citizens. The members
were joined by three citizens for the six-person pinball game, which took place
in front of Ewha Womans University. This game was similar to a game played on
Fuji TV′s
popular variety show VS Arashi.
Arashi
is a top idol group in Japan, and many fans in Korea have seen the program. As
such, the plagiarism suspicions spread quickly due to the similarities in the
game on Running Man.
Note:
“Running Man” is part of the umbrella program “Good Sunday” on the South
Korean terrestrial network SBS.
“VS. Arashi” is a Fuji TV variety show featuring the popular Japanese boy
group Arashi.

on the Dec. 6, 2015, episode of “Running
Man” (top) and “Gorogoro
Viking” on Fuji TV’s “VS Arashi”.

It looks the same. It was actually really similar that it
surprised me. They really did copy it. I thought it totally looked similar when
I first saw it but just ignored it, So I guess I wasn't the only one who
thought that.
Running Man is not the only show to copy from Japanese broadcasts. I'm sure those that watch Japanese variety shows will know that well.

Looks like the writers didn't feel like creating new games. If
there's nothing new to play just make them play rock paper scissors. (lol)
It's nice that he (PD-nim) cleanly admitted to it, but
plagiarism is not just a mistake. How can plagiarism be a mistake? Plagiarism
is deliberately taking from the origin, that's not an accident.
Btw, It's nice to see him cooly admit it right away. It’s way
better instead of acting mighty like a certain someone. Just be more cautious from
now on!
I am an Arashian and I watch RM too. But If RM fans don't see
any problem in this, that means they don't know anything about Johnny's... This
is wrong in to many levels. Respect to the PD-nim that he apologized. After
all, it's about facing Johnny and Associates. For those who don't know, you
can't beat Johnny and Associates (some called it Johnny Entertainment) even you
combine SM Ent, YG and JYP altogether.
Based from my opinion,
US
> Japan > Korea > China. Order of copying. (lol XDD)
